a pleasant find - Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park
During the past week, we have had some unsettling temperature, day time ranging from 17c - 33c, here in the Bay Area though I should not complain as we, in California, still have a good weather when compared to some of the rest of the US.
To better appreciate good weather and to catch up, as well as to escape a bit from the madness of back-to-back year-end events, a few of local friends and I got together for a quick lunch at the Wisteria Cafe at the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park.
Allied Arts Guild is a beautiful and historic garden oasis, home to unique shops, artists' studios, and Wisteria Cafe. Since 1929, it has provided an inspiring environment for working artists, beautiful gardens and shops for visitors. The rent collected from the tenants are used for critically ill children at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allied_Arts_Guild Allied Arts Guildは1929年にアート好きな資産家であったDelight and Garfield Mernerが、アートとクラフトを奨励するのを目的とし敷地を購入、一般に公開、敷地内のギャラリーを始めとするテナントからの家賃をPackard Children's Hospitalに寄付しています。
Once you enter the complex, you are instantly transformed to another part in the world, perhaps South of France. It is filled with beautiful flowers in a charming garden, while the shops and buildings are tastefully decorated. It is truly an oasis and after all for a wonderful cause.
